Flexible support for CCGs has never been more important
The NHS Long Term Plan expects CCGs to play a major role in creating primary care networks – the building blocks of integrated care – and fully operational integrated care systems (ICS). Networks will need to be up and running by the summer and ICS are expected to cover the country within two years. At the same time, CCGs themselves are faced with 20% cuts in admin costs and a period of further rationalisation as the NHS plan signals a logical “one per ICS” alignment of commissioners with emerging integrated care systems. Our recent survey of CCGs and NHS England local offices, many of which are PCC clients, shows that commissioners rely on us for timely information and expert advice that reduce organisational risk and support the rapid development of local primary care networks. With the financial year-end looming, now is a good time to talk to PCC about an annual contract that allows you to access support as and when you need it.
