Negotiation skills: the principles

PCC has launched a new e-learning course on negotiation skills.

This course will help you to learn some practical negotiation techniques and strategies, and to plan your negotiations to give you the greatest chance of success. Covering the principles, the preparation and the practice of negotiating skills the course combines theory with practical activities and scenarios to help you put what you learn into practice.

Learn to speak up in primary care

A new e-learning module for speaking up is now available for all staff working in primary care. The session covers what speaking up about a concern means and why it matters, and it will help learners understand how they can do this. It was developed by Protect, formerly Public Concern at Work, working in partnership with NHS England and the national guardian’s office.

Performance of the NHS provider sector for the quarter ended 30 June 2018

A report from NHS Improvement finds that the start of the financial year saw frontline staff cope with record A&E attendances, high bed occupancy levels and improved discharge rates. The sector ended the quarter £814 million in deficit – £22 million better than planned at the beginning of the year but £78 million worse than the same quarter last year.

Written complaints statistics

Written complaints to GPs and dental services were up by 4.5% last year according to recent report by NHS Digital. A report published this month found that there were 94,637 written complaints to primary care services in 2017/18.
