Asset-based community development to support your primary care network

20 June 2019

Social prescribing link workers will play a pivotal role in connecting primary care networks (PCNs) with the existing groups and services that support their patients’ wellbeing at community level. For social prescribing to work well, a collaborative approach to working with partners and communities is needed, including further community development. This event in Manchester on 11 September will help you to use learning from asset-based community development (ABCD) approaches to identify how PCNs can enable local people to become active partners in their own health and wellbeing, supporting each other in your neighbourhood. Speakers, including Cormac Russell, who has pioneered ABCD in more than 30 countries, will explain the ABCD concept and how it can support primary care networks, share examples of where it has been done well, and give practical advice and implementation tips to all those involved in developing PCNs.

Get to grips with the Policy and Guidance Manual - updated 2019

In May NHS England updated the Policy and Guidance Manual. The manual for medical contracting provides essential information for contracting teams responsible for GMS, PMS and APMS, the primary medical services contracts. This workshop from PCC on 29 August in London and 11 September in Manchester provides a useful refresher and update for existing teams and a timely introduction to the subject for new commissioning staff, helping commissioners to avoid the risk of time-consuming and costly challenges to primary medical contracts. Staying abreast of the latest guidance is vital in light of the 2019/20 GP contract and introduction of the network contract DES.

Getting to grips with project management

13 June 2019

This one-day course on 3 July 2019 in Leeds, 17 September 2019 in London, 30 January in Reading and 11 March in Warrington will review the basic principles covered in our introductory course before going on to consider examples of learning from real projects and discuss different scenarios. Participants will have the opportunity to apply learning from the session to projects they have managed in the past and consider what they might have done differently. Participants are expected to have some knowledge and experience of project management, though it is not necessary to have completed the level one course.
