As more services become available across primary care, helping patients find the right service isn’t always easy. With pharmacy first starting soon there is a need for general practice teams to engage with community pharmacy and other partners on a primary care network or neighbourhood footprint. There needs to be understanding of pressures, skill sets and capacity.
Collaboration now at a local level is crucial to support understanding, and appreciation of what is possible, leading to timely patient access to appropriate services. PCC can help. We support open honest discussions at a local level to help joint working to enable patients to access the right service.
