With practices improving access to services and using different approaches (face to face, online, referring to community pharmacy etc), coupled with primary care networks (PCNs) supporting general practice capacity through additional roles the patterns of demand for services is likely to have started to change.
However, for many areas there will still be work to do as changing the habits of people and who they expect to see will take longer. Its useful to review capacity and demand to see where shifts still need to happen, and if the skill and consultation mix is correct, as well as considering how the whole primary care team can be engaged.
