Finance

Understanding a practice’s or PCN’s financial position and having financial sustainability are key to ensuring the resilience of general practice. Through good financial governance, practices and PCNs are better placed to:

  • Operate more effectively
  • Identify and free up resources
  • Transform services
  • Support the delivery of high-quality care.

PCC has supported PCNs across the country to develop their financial resilience and we do this by offering a range of interventions dependent on their needs. For example, we can provide:

  • Independent financial reviews to identify improvements in the way income and expenditure are dealt with
  • Hands on support to maximise delivery against the PCN directed enhanced service and impact and investment fund through for example, improved data searches and reconciliation.
  • Training to understand more about how Quality outcomes framework (QOF) is administered, and how to monitor, review and appeal your submissions.

PCC – Supporting general practice (5 March 2024)
Primary care networks (PCNs) and practices are continually looking for ways to deliver improved services for patients, but we are hearing from practices that the need to balance the benefits their delivery can bring with the finances they will receive is an ongoing concern. Evaluating the viability of services/contracts will help practices make those important decisions about future additional service delivery. We can support PCNs and practices to quantitatively and qualitatively review delivery of new services to enable them to make informed decisions and ensure they focus on what delivers the most impact.
