Helen Simmonds

Helen has worked in the NHS for nearly 30 years and started her career as a financial management trainee in NHS Wales. After working for several years specialising in financial management in the acute sector her career has focussed on primary care, including the medical, dental and pharmacy sectors. Roles have included both operational and strategic level such as practice management and primary care development. Therefore Helen has a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and issues currently facing the NHS.

Helen leads the premises team for PCC and has extensive knowledge of general practice premises, working closely with NHS England at a policy level. Helen delivers training packages, writes support material and provides advice and mentoring to practice teams and commissioners on premises matters. Recent support has included the development of PCN clinical and estates strategies for over 40 PCNs.

As part of her role Helen also delivers personal and team development training including project management sessions and a new to people management programme. She has also provided facilitation support in practice development sessions for GP practices.

Helen is the regional lead for PCC’s work in Wales, providing and coordinating support for Health Boards, Public Health Wales and the Strategic Programme for Primary Care.
