A parliamentary report finds that in 2017/18 only three in ten children and young people with a mental health condition received NHS-funded treatment, and many more faced unacceptably long waits for treatment. It concludes that the government has no comprehensive, long-term plan for how it will fulfil its commitment to implement Future in Mind, which set out a cross-sector vision for how to support young people’s mental health.
The NHS Long Term Plan sets out the actions the NHS must take if it is to be sustainable for the next decade and beyond. As well as the NHS’s ambitions for tackling the big disease areas, the plan considers workforce, commissioning and how primary care needs to work together to provide more joined-up services. The plan is likely to affect everyone who works in the NHS in some way. Have you read it yet? Vote at www.networks.nhs.uk
